# Working hours

> Set the days and times each location is open.

Working hours are when a location is open each week. They set the outer limit for bookings — staff can only be booked during these hours. For one-off changes like public holidays, use [Hours overrides](/set-up/locations/hours-overrides).

## Set your weekly hours

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Working hours tab">
    Go to **Settings → Operating Locations**, choose your location, then open the **Working hours** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn each day on or off">
    Use the switch next to each day to mark it open or closed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the times">
    For each open day, set a start time and an end time. Times move in 15-minute steps.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Save changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Split shifts

To close in the middle of a day — for example, a lunch break — add more than one time slot to that day. Select **Add time slot** and set the second set of times, such as 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–5:00 PM.

<Note>
  Time slots can't overlap, and the start time must be before the end time. If you mark a day open without setting times, it defaults to 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
</Note>

<Tip>
  Working hours are the boundary for the whole location. Each staff member's schedule and every booking sit inside these hours.
