# Hours overrides

> Change your hours for specific dates, like public holidays or one-off closures.

An override changes your hours for a single date. Use overrides for public holidays, special events, or any one-off change. An override always takes priority over your regular [working hours](/set-up/locations/working-hours) for that date.

## Add an override

    Go to **Settings → Operating Locations**, choose your location, then open the **Hours overrides** tab.

    Select **Add override**.

  <Step title="Choose the date and hours">
    Pick the date and mark it open or closed. If it's open, set the hours.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a note and save">
    Add a note such as "Public holiday" if you like, then select **Add override**.

## Settings

| Setting           | What it's for                                                     | Required     |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| **Date**          | The single date this override applies to.                         | Yes          |
| **Open / Closed** | Whether the location is open on that date.                        | Yes          |
| **Hours**         | The open times for that date. Shown when the date is marked open. | Only if open |
| **Notes**         | A short reason, such as "Public holiday" or "Staff training".     | No           |

## Manage overrides

Your overrides appear in a list by date. You can edit or delete any one, or select several and delete them together.

<Note>An override replaces your regular working hours for that date only.</Note>
