# Catchment areas

> The suburbs a location covers, for mobile businesses that travel to customers.

Catchment areas are the suburbs and postcodes a location covers. They apply to **mobile** businesses that travel to customers, such as driving schools. If your location is a fixed place customers come to, you can skip this.

This is the full list of suburbs for the location. Your staff build their own [serving areas](/set-up/staff/working-schedule#serving-areas) — smaller named lists — by picking from these suburbs.

## Add catchment areas

Go to **Settings → Operating Locations**, choose your location, then open the **Catchment Areas** tab. You can add suburbs in two ways.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Add manually">
    Select **Add Manually**, search for a suburb or postcode (for example, "Bondi" or "2026"), choose it from the results, and add it.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Find nearby suburbs">
    Select **Find Nearby Suburbs**, set a base address, and choose a search radius from 3 to 100 km. The map shows the suburbs within range. Tick the ones you want and add them.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Manage catchment areas

Your suburbs appear in a list with their state and postcode. Remove any the location no longer covers.

<Warning>
  Removing a suburb that staff serving areas rely on affects those lists. If staff serving areas use it, you're asked to confirm, and those lists update automatically. If removing it would leave a serving area with no suburbs, you can't remove it until you add another suburb to that list — or remove the list first.
